USA Federal Law Enforcement Agents News

Federal law enforcement agents raided the downtown New York residence of Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan on Nov. 13, seizing his phone and other electronic devices, the company reported. The early-morning raid came shortly after the recent presidential election, during which bettors on Polymarket—a crypto-based, offshore election gambling platform—had been giving President-elect Donald Trump higher odds than Vice President Kamala Harris, diverging from some public opinion polls. Coplan, the 26-year-old founder of Polymarket, was awakened at 6 a.m. in his SoHo apartment by FBI agents who demanded access to his electronics, according to the company.

Polymarket declined to comment on reports that federal prosecutors are investigating the platform for allegedly allowing U.S. residents to place bets on the site. A spokesperson claimed the FBI raid was "obvious political retribution by the outgoing administration against Polymarket for providing a market that correctly predicted the 2024 presidential election outcome."

The company added that Coplan was neither arrested nor detained. The FBI declined to comment, and the Department of Justice and the White House did not respond to requests for comment.
